Stowaways_C

The Stowaways aren’t like the other Weedle Mice. They are inventive and curious, they go on adventures, and they are much too clever for their own good. In fact, everyone knows that Grampa Stowaway was killed in a trap on one of his adventures. So, who would want to associate with a family like that?

There’s something else about the Stowaways. They keep secrets. Rory has made friends with a bird, their natural enemy; and his twin brother Morgan dreams of sailing away. But Gran has the biggest secret of all—and Rory has discovered what it is. If Rory and Gran act on their suspicions, will they be heading for disaster? Or will it be the greatest Stowaway adventure of all?

Award-winning illustrator Dean Griffiths’ nostalgic illustrations create instant charm, while Meghan Marentette’s warm, expressive storytelling transports readers to a world of acorn-cap lanterns and button-wheel bicycles where the adventures are enormous and the tiniest are the bravest of all.

Novel for children aged 8-12. Pajama Press, 2013. 240 pages.

  1. Hi Meghan, I reviewed Rumie Goes Rafting on my YouTube channel (Great Books for Kids Reviewed by Michelle Marcotte). Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vewyO-syneI

I will soon go on my husband’s laptop (Ken Vick), and place a similar review on Amazon. I have to use his account for Amazon because he has our Amazon account.

Fantastic book. Have you ever figured out if, and if so how, we are related? You are the only Marentette I have ever heard of that other than the relatives I know. Are you related to the Marentettes of Windsor or southern Ontario? My mother was Patricia (Marentette) Marcotte, youngest daughter of Joseph Alonzo Marentette and Louise Chaput.

    Cheers! Michelle Marcotte (marcotteconsulting@gmail.com)

    1. Hi Kelli!
Thank you for finding me here. I’m so glad you and your daughter enjoyed Rumie’s adventure together! I am now working on a second adventure for Rumie, set in winter. These books take a long time to make but hopefully it’s worth the wait… in the meantime, you can find me on Instagram @meghanmouse, or facebook @Meghan Marentette — sometimes I post little peaks into the next book.
Thanks again — you made me smile, too! 🙂
